Trace: » Bye Bye Mandriva
My resignation from Mandriva took effect yesterday. It was a great place to work for the past 6 years, and this definitely is a richful first experience.
It was possible to meet very bright people. In particular, thanks to Frederic Lepied for being my mentor from the beginning. He remains the greatest CTO we ever had. When we are newcomers to the professional world, we somehow need models/references to get motivation and try to reach their excellence. He was one of them as a few others at Mandriva, but also within partners and competitors.
It allowed me to work on many innovative technologies, ahead of time. I worked on 4 architecture ports (10+ distros!) to platforms that were not available at that time. And I ultimately specified another one last year with interesting technologies Mandriva will undoubtedly carry on to be very successful and wealthy!
Long life to Mandriva Linux!
I will still use Mandriva Linux though my main platform will remain Mandriva Linux LE2005. This is because it suits best my development needs: it's the oldest and only bi-arch capable Linux development platform, thus having a chance that distributed binaries work on a wide range of systems.
